Learn the 8 Brocades with Tina Faulkner
The Baduanjin is one of the oldest and most common forms of Daoyin Qigong. Its endurance and popularity are a testament to how effective these ancient movements are at preserving health of both mind and body.

Baduanjin (八段錦) translates as the Eight Pieces of Brocade, or is sometimes referred to as the Eight Silk Reeling exercises. Each of the 8 movements is designed to stretch and open all of the energy channels in the body so that our energy can flow in a healthy manner, restoring our vitality both physically and mentally.

On the workshop topic
There is however more to it than just ‘performing’ these movements. To understand the skills that need to be developed in order to fully benefit from the Baduanjin, we can look at the idea of reeling silk to create a brocade. This is a subtle artform that takes just the right qualities in order to produce a treasure of real value. The same can be said for developing the skills required to engage the right qualities within the body, the mind and the breath.
By learning these skills through the practice of the Baduanjin we not only learn an ancient form of self healing, we learn to understand and connect with ourselves in a meaningful way that promotes not only health and balance but spiritual growth.
